Tutorial
In this first tutorial we'll show you how to create your first video using the Shotstack Studio.
Step 1: Create a template
Make your way over to the Studio page from the main navigation and click on Create Template
. This will take you to the Studio where you can edit your template.
Give your template a name and select the default video settings.
Step 2: Add a video clip
Now that you're in the video editor, go to the Media section on the left navigation panel.
Upload your video or choose one from the Library, then click on the selected video to add it.
You can also click the link icon and add the following video link to use the same video asset we are using:
https://shotstack-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/footage/night-sky.mp4
Once that's uploaded it will show in the preview and the timeline where you can scrub through the video. For now adjust the timing of the video clip to 10 seconds.
The clip panel lets you edit various properties of the video clip, such as adjusting size and position, trimming, volume, timing, chroma key, and applying transitions, motion effects, and filters.
Step 3: Add some text
We will now add some text. Click Text
on the left navigation panel to add text to your clip.
You can choose from Title, Subtitle, or Paragraph options. You can also upload your custom font or select from our available fonts. Letβs go with Paragraph.
Let's add some text to it, such as "my first video". You can change other settings such as alignment, size, colour and other properties in the clip property panel.
Step 4: Render your video
When you are happy with your video you can render it by clicking the Preview button.
You can then view it by clicking on the thumbnail that appears in your render list.
The preview will show you what your video will look like and include your Render ID and the url of where your video is hosted.
The Render ID is an important property inside of Shotstack, as it will identify your render when you create videos at scale.
That's it! You have completed the first part of the Getting Started series.
Please head on over to How-to use merge fields to create videos at scale with Shotstack Studio for part 2.
