The new Shotstack dashboard introduces a streamlined way to manage your projects by clearly separating your Staging and Production environments.

This ensures that your testing workflows remain completely isolated from your live production data.

Instead of viewing all keys on a single page, the new interface utilizes a global environment toggle.

This guide will help you navigate these changes.

1. Switching Between Staging and Production

In the new dashboard, your assets, templates, render history and API keys are environment-specific.
To switch between them:

  • Locate the Environment Toggle: You will find this dropdown menu at the top left of your screen.

  • Select your Environment: Click the dropdown to switch between Staging and Production.

  • The "Source of Truth": When you switch environments, everything updates. If you are in "Staging," you will only see templates and media uploaded to the staging environment. If you can’t find a specific asset, double-check that you are in the correct environment.

2. Viewing Your Render History

Render History is context-aware. This allows you to debug test renders in Staging without them being buried by high-volume Production logs.

  • Accessing Logs: Click on the My Renders section in the left-hand sidebar.

  • Environment Filtering: If the toggle is set to Staging, you will see your sandbox render attempts, their status, and any associated error logs.

  • Production Monitoring: Switch the toggle to Production to monitor live video generation and billing-related render data.

  • Missing Renders?: If your list is empty, it is likely because you are viewing the history for the wrong environment.

3. Accessing Your API Keys

Once you have selected the desired environment, accessing your keys is simple:

  1. Select the environment (Staging or Production) via the top-left toggle.

  2. Click on the API Keys section in the left-hand sidebar.

  3. The keys displayed will correspond strictly to the environment you selected. This prevents the accidental use of Production keys in a testing script.

4. Managing Templates

Templates are also organized by environment to prevent accidental edits to live configurations during testing.

  • Staging Templates: Use these for testing new JSON payloads or n8n workflows without consuming live credits.

  • Production Templates: Switch the toggle to Production to view and manage templates intended for your final, live output.

Troubleshooting Tip

If you are following a tutorial that refers to the "Legacy Studio," you may notice that API keys were previously listed together. In the new dashboard, remember: if you can't find it, toggle it. The Environment Toggle is the first place you should look if your Render History, Templates or API keys appear to be missing.
